Hamilton County Schools - Hamilton County Department Of Education

Hamilton County Schools is the school district that serves Hamilton County, Tennessee, USA. After a 1995 referendum, the separate Chattanooga City Schools district was merged into the county's in 1997. About 2,300 high school seniors graduated from the system in May 2011.

Dalewood Middle School is a middle school located in Chattanooga educates students in 6 â€" 8th grade.The school mission statement is Dalewood Middle School’s mission is to positively impact students, socially and academically, by strengthening their character to become lifelong learners and productive citizens. The school’s vision statement is Dalewood Middle School will provide a positive, creative, safe environment that fosters academic excellence through respectful relationships. The school’s values and beliefs include the following: honesty, integrity, mutual respect. Creating change and adapting to change are key elements to success. All students have talents and abilities worth developing. High expectations will yield higher results. As of 2014. The school principal is Mr. Christian Earl. The school mascot and team name is the Blue Knights. The school offers the following athletic extracurricular activities: football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, track, and cheerleading. Approximately 500 students enroll each year. Notable alumni of Dalewood Middle School include Usher Raymond, R&B musician and actor, known professionally as "Usher". Mr. Raymond visited students in February 2014 to recognize honor roll students and encouraged the entire school body to work hard as they prepare for state level testing.

Loftis Middle School is situated in Hixson, and consists of 6 â€" 8th grades. Brent Eller is the current principal. Loftis Middle was established in 1994 and was open by 1995.

Alternative schools

The system provides four schools to serve special needs students, students at risk, high achievement students, and students with behavioral problems.
